Apart from discussions between world leaders, a sweet moment unfolded between PM Modi and the Speaker of Slovakia, Richard Raši. According to News18, PM Modi gifted Bihar’s beloved Thekua to the Speaker. Among the many gifts presented to global leaders, Thekua definitely stood out.

Native to Bihar and Jharkhand, Thekua is a deep-fried snack that is sometimes called a ‘desi cookie’. It is prepared using wheat flour, jaggery or sugar, ghee, and fennel seeds. While this is the classic recipe, some people also add desiccated coconut and cardamom to enhance its flavour. Thekua is crispy on the outside and dense yet soft on the inside.
