Yum! Brands Decides To Sell Pizza Hut
Yum! Brands, which owns popular restaurant chains like Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell, and Habit Burger & Grill, has decided to sell Pizza Hut in two separate deals. As per News18, the company will sell Pizza Hut businesses outside Mainland China to LongRange Capital for about $1.5 billion, while Yum China Holdings will buy Pizza Hut China for around $1.2 billion. Together, these deals are worth $2.7 billion.
Yum! Brands started reviewing the future of its Pizza Hut business in November 2025. After months of evaluation, the company decided to sell the brand through two separate deals. If all necessary approvals are received, both transactions are expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2026.

How These Deals Will Help The Brand?
Chris Turner, CEO of Yum! Brands said that these deals will allow the company to focus more on its key priorities while making the best use of its technology, resources, and workforce. According to News18, he also expressed confidence that Pizza Hut will continue to grow under its new owners, who have strong experience in running and expanding restaurant businesses.
The announcement also impacted Pizza Hut’s franchise partners in India. Soon after the news broke, the share prices of Sapphire Foods India and Devyani International fell slightly in early trading. Meanwhile, Yum! Brands expects to receive around $2.3 billion from the deals after deducting taxes and other transaction-related costs. The company could also earn an extra $75 million by 2030 if certain business performance goals are met under its agreement with LongRange Capital.
Along with the sale announcement, Yum! Brands also approved a new $4 billion share buyback programme. The company said it plans to use the money earned from the deals to support future business growth and reward its shareholders by returning excess capital to them.
