Viral Post Suggests India Should Shut Down In Summer

Countries like Europe, where winters can be challenging, often see life slow down during that season. In this context, a social media user SUPERBRO (@Rushu_Tushu) compared the situation with India. Summers are extremely intense in India and often become unbearable.

In the post, the user suggested that India should consider a summer shut down. The user also pointed out that schools, colleges, and workplaces continue as usual despite the extreme heat. The post mentioned, “With rising temperatures, shouldn’t there be some kind of adjustment? Maybe summer shut down or shifting the calendar so the hottest months are less intensive. If we can adapt to exams, festivals, and elections, why not adapt to the climate too? Ignoring it isn’t resilience, it’s negligence.”

One user added, “Because in India, it’s still not seen as a major issue.”

One comment reads, “This can be easily tackled by changing work timings. Like starting from 8 AM to 12 PM and then continuing in the late evenings if required. Solutions are many, right intent is very limited.”

Another X user commented, “Where is the extreme summer? At least wait till May-June. Temperatures are what they are supposed to be during Indian summers. No need to shut down anything.”

Another comment reads, “Because we live in poverty. If you shut it down, people will die. There is no backup system in place for people to earn money or get food.”
