Indian Railways Surprises Man On Shatabdi Express With An Iftar Meal Box

A little touch of humanity feels the best is something we all have always heard and some of us might have also felt it. A similar incident got highlighted on Twitter recently. Ramzan fast is been observed by Muslims all around the world. They have a night meal which marks them breaking the fast namely Iftar. A man on the Shatabdi express was surprised by Indian Railways staff with an iftar meal box.

Iftar Served On The Train

Shahnawaz Akhtar boarded the Howrah-Ranchi Shatabdi express at Dhanbad. He asked the staff to send the tea for him a little late as he has to yet break his fast. The staff asked him if he was on Roza to which Shanawaz said, yes, later someone came in with the iftar meal box. He was so touched by this gesture that he took a picture and shared it on Twitter.

Humanity By IRCTC Staff

The onboard catering manager had arranged the meal for Akhtar personally. On-board Catering Supervisor, Prakash Kumar Behera, IRCTC, said that the staff was preparing to break the fast and just then the passenger boarded the same coach. He told them that the passenger too was fasting and shared his iftar with the passenger. He called it basic humanity.

Netizens Praised The Staff

The netizens praised the staff and his gesture and kept sharing the image posted by Shahnawaz. Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State for Railways tweeted that the Indian Railways family was touched by the comments and hoped that Shanawaz had a good meal. She further wrote that this is the perfect example of how PM Modi led government is meant to work with the motto,’ Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas’.
