Every time we travel on trains, most of us imagine how the coaches get increasingly crowded with passing days. Passenger footfall is tremendously rising in trains. Resolving this issue is a major necessity at the moment. Indian Railways made a significant decision to increase the present number of general coaches to combat this huge problem.

We read about multiple incidents of general class passengers trying to travel in air-conditioned coaches. They jam these coaches and make travel inconvenient for ticket holders. Videos of similar instances often make rounds on the Internet. Now, the railways have finalised steps to manage this problem. According to a report by The Indian Express, the railways are all set to increase the number of train coaches manufactured for the general class.

Some changes have been made to the yearly production plan to spike the coaches’ numbers. The present plan is to build 6,325 Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) coaches for the period of 2024-25. Out of these, 4,075 coaches are going to be sleepers and general class coaches.
