India’s First Rapid Rail Coaches On Delhi-Meerut Route Has Reclining Seats, Vending Machines & Large Windows

Travel from Delhi to Meerut in just 55 minutes thanks to India’s first rapid rail coaches. India’s fastest train is designed to travel at a speed of 180 kmph and will ferry 8 lakh passengers daily in the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail Corridor. The train unveiled by National Capital Regional Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on March 16 will cover the distance between Delhi and Meerut in less than an hour with 14 stoppages. Moreover, these rapid rail coaches are touted to have top-notch amenities including large windows that promise stunning views of your journey. Read on to know more.

First Train In India With Premium Coaches On Regional Corridor

Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS) is the first-of-its-kind system in trains that has sem- high-speed aerodynamic trainsets with distributed power. The first RRTS corridor will have a total of 210 cars manufactured by a facility in Savli. The RRTS train will run along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor, covering a distance of 182 km in just 55 minutes. It’s also the first train in India to have business or premium coaches on a regional corridor. With modern commuter-friendly features, these trains will be available every 5 to 10 minutes, bringing comfort and convenience to the lives of 8 lakh passengers who travel by this route daily.

What Are The Amenities In The Rapid Rail Coaches?

When it comes to the features, these trains have business or premium class cars on every train and one coach reserved for women. The top-notch amenities include reclining seats, cushioned seats with more legroom, overhead luggage racks, CCTV cameras, auto control ambient lighting, airconditioning and heating system, coat hangers and vending machine facility. There’s also a separate automatic fare collection system. This is one train journey you’d certainly want to be part of.
