In a recent announcement, it was made known that IndiGo would soon begin operations from the upcoming international airport in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya. IndiGo would be the first airline to begin operations from this new airport. It will connect Ayodhya to Delhi and Ahmedabad and will begin scheduled operations from next year onwards. It is expected that the number of people visiting the region will soon increase once the airport is inaugurated.

According to an article which was recently published by Simple Flying, IndiGo is all set to become the first airline which will begin operations from the upcoming international airport in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya. On December 30, an inaugural flight from Delhi will land at the airport. After that, scheduled flights will begin from Delhi and Ahmedabad in the first week of January.

From Delhi, scheduled flights begin on January 6 with a single flight daily between the two cities from January 10 onwards. These flights will depart from Delhi at 11:55 AM and reach Ayodhya at 1:15 PM. From Ahmedabad, three flights per week will begin between the two cities from January 11 onwards. These will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The flight will depart from Ahmedabad at 9:10 AM and will reach Ayodhya at 11 AM. As per the article, Ayodhya will be IndiGo’s 86th domestic destination and 118th overall destination. IndiGo is also planning to begin operations from the Jewar Airport in Noida. Officially known as the Noida International Airport or NIA, it will soon be open for operations.

The airport in Ayodhya, officially known as the Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, during the coming weeks. The airport was built at a cost of $30 million which is more ₹250 crores. Its terminal stretches across 6,500 square metres and can handle as many as 300 passengers during peak hours.

On a yearly basis, it is estimated that the airport can handle more than 600,000 passengers. Once the airport is complete, the city of Ayodhya is expected to witness a significant spike in tourist footfall. This is because the city holds religious and cultural significance for many Hindus. Its major attraction will be the Ram Mandir which already experiences devotees thronging to it.

In addition to this temple, there are also a number of other culturally and religiously significant places in the city which attract devotees.
