IndiGo All Set To Introduce IATA Travel Pass For International Travel

Budget airline IndiGo has collaborated with International Air Transport Association (IATA) to introduce a pilot project for IATA Travel Pass which will assist in the revival of international travel. The IATA Travel Pass will be a mobile application that will enable travellers to securely store and manage their travel information and documents adhering to the requirements of the government related to COVID-19 testing and vaccination. Travellers can store their verified COVID-19 test certificates and vaccine certificates in the app. The travel pass will let passengers create a ‘digital passport’ to verify pre-travel test or vaccination status to comply with the SOPs of the destination. IndiGo has stated that it will be the first airline to launch a pilot project for IATA travel pass to revive international travel. The pilot project will start in India from August 20, 2021.

Passengers Can Share Test And Vaccination Certificates Through Mobile App

The travel pass will enable passengers to share the test and vaccination certificates with the authorities as well as the airlines. Through the app, passengers will be able to maintain their travel documentation digitally throughout the travel experience, in a hassle-free manner. It will allow authorised labs and test centres to securely send test results or vaccination certificates to passengers. According to a Times of India report, IndiGo CEO Ronjoy Dutta said, “We are certain that our collaboration with IATA on this innovation will prove to be a stepping-stone towards international air travel recovery, while providing a hassle-free experience to our customers.”  In a first, IndiGo had also launched a special discount on its flights for vaccinated customers.
