Spread across 30 acres, the Tulip Garden in Srinagar is the largest tulip garden in Asia. We visited the tulip garden and it was a colourful sight to behold! Adorning the garden with bright, red, yellow, white, pink and many more vibrant coloured tulips, this place looks like a beautiful painting of nature. The Tulip Festival is celebrated in Srinagar when the flowers blossom at its best during the spring season. So this government-owned festival doesn’t have a specific date and it differs each year according to the most suitable date. However, it’s generally held between March and May. And this 2020, you can experience the floral extravaganza in April. So book your tickets.

What Is It?

Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is the largest Tulip Garden in Asia. It opened up in 2007 and stays open only for 30 days in a year when the beautiful tulips are in full bloom! The garden is modelled on Amsterdam’s Keukenhof Garden and there are about 12.25 lakh Tulip bulbs of 40 varieties and colours. These colourful tulips at the Tulip Festival are set against the stunning Dal Lake.

What Do We Know?

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is a seven terraced garden and has been built to promote tourism & floriculture in Srinagar, Kashmir. Other than Tulips, you can also check out Hyacinths, Daffodils & Narcissus. For those of you who are eager to know more, this Tulip garden is located in the Cheshma Shahi Road of Rainawari in the city of Srinagar. It’s spread across thirty acres and has become a significant tourist attraction over the years. The flowers reflect the beauty and vibrancy of the state and gives us another reason to add Jammu & Kashmir to our bucket list.
