Nyaung Ohak is the perfect definition of a reflection of Myanmar’s bountiful culture and natural beauty. It is also known as the Ancient Village, pointing to the fact that it is rich in flora and fauna which makes it a timeless beauty. It has even preserved numerous 13th-century ancient stupas and pagodas. Pagoda is generally used to refer to a place of worship.

The unique designs and historical significance of the pagodas are what make Nyaung Ohak stand out. The area is bordered by a dense jungle and the stupas are covered in moss and surrounded by bright green bamboo shoots.

Even now you have to take a boat ride from Inle Lake and a tiny trek through the lush jungle to reach Nyaung Ohak.
