IRCTC Website & App Temporarily Suspended Due To Technical Glitches; Resumes After 2 Hours

Isn’t it absolutely frustrating, when you’re sitting to book your tickets and the website crashes? The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website faced a technical glitch, leaving users unable to book e-tickets for over two hours. A totally chaotic situation for people wanting to travel, many took to X to share their woes.

IRCTC Website Crashes Due To Technical Glitch; Netizens Express Outrage

On Thursday, IRCTC took to its X account to announce that its website was temporarily down due to a technical glitch. In an official statement, @IRCTCofficial stated that its e-ticket booking service was temporarily affected due to technical reasons. Further, IRCTC reassured users that their technical team was working towards this and the booking would be available soon.

According to a report by CNBC TV18, many frustrated users reported the matter that they were unable to book tickets under both Tatkal and General quotas. They seemed to be facing login issues across not only the IRCTC website but also its mobile app. Many encountered 502 Bad Gateway errors when using the booking app.

To make matters worse, users also received downtime messages like IRCTC’s scheduled downtime. This usually happens at 11 pm. What’s worse is that many users experienced payment being deducted from their accounts without any booking history visible on the IRCTC app or website. The website crashed around 12 pm today.

Following IRCTC’s statement about the temporary suspension of the website, many Netizens took to the comments section of the post to relay their woes.@Abhinay02155813, frustrated, says, “Worst website ever seen . IRCTC worst experience”. @drkamdi explains in detail what he faced, “Worst experience. 1. Money deducted but ticket not booked. Don’t see amount refunded back in ConfirmTKT wallet. 2. Tried resetting password in between. Did not get OPT and now getting a message saying “retry exhausted for a day”.

@KompiNeelesh says that this issue has been persisting since not just 2 hours, but the last three days. The X user says, “Yes me too facing same issues since last 3 days. It really wasting our time & after complaining to them toonthey care a damn.” @nakul333 comments, “I need to partially cancel my ticket and my train is in next few hours. Could you please help immediately otherwise I will not receive refund.” @Narayan_Pune sarcastically writes, “Booking emergency/tatkal tickets on your website is next to impossible. Your servers are the worst. Captcha are given in such that a person is giving an entrance exam.”

It Resumes After 2 Hours Of Shut Down

It’s not the first time this year, the app crashed. In July 2023, IRCTC’s ticketing service was down impacting travellers’ ability to book tickets. Officials recommended users book their tickets on Amazon and MakeMyTrip. The IRCTC website and mobile app resumed at 1:55 pm on Thursday. IRCTC informed its users on X that the website has resumed and they can book their e-tickets comfortably.
