A bizarre heist in Europe has grabbed everyone’s attention across the world. A truck full of 12 tonnes of KitKat chocolate bars vanished while being transported from its factory in central Italy to its destination in Poland. KitKats Stolen Mid-Transit In Europe
Thieves stealing gold, diamonds, or even prized artefacts is common, but recently, some people actually ran away with 12 tonnes of KitKat chocolate bars. According to a report by The Guardian, the truck was carrying 413,793 units of a ‘new chocolate range’ on March 26, 2026, when the bizarre heist happened.
A spokesperson for Nestlé, which is KitKat’s parent company, confirmed the theft to The Guardian and said the company is now working to investigate it with the help of local authorities and supply chain partners. Reportedly, the truck was en route to Poland from Italy when the robbery occurred. The thieves stole the entire truck carrying chocolates and drove off. Fortunately, no one was hurt during the heist.

According to The Guardian, a spokesperson for Nestlé said they appreciate the criminals’ “exceptional taste”, but cargo theft remains a major issue for businesses. They also mentioned how they have always encouraged people to “take a break”, but it seems the thieves took the message too literally and made a break with a truck full of KitKat chocolates.
The company chose to go public with the incident to raise awareness. KitKat also took to its official Instagram account to make a statement. It confirmed the incident and clarified that it is working on the investigation. KitKat also mentioned that there are no concerns for consumer safety and that supply is not affected. Reportedly, the stolen bars were from KitKat’s new Formula One line. The chocolate bars were moulded like race cars but still featured the same iconic chocolate-covered wafers.
