If you’ve been following the news lately, you must have heard that Japan has recently experienced a massive earthquake. Many people have shared disturbing visuals of buildings collapsing and roads splitting down the middle. One of the worst-affected regions is a tourist town in Japan called Wajima. It is located around 450 kilometres northwest of Tokyo. Many people on the Internet have shared harrowing videos of the aftermath of the earthquake.

Japan Earthquake: Wajima Reduced To Rubble

According to an article which was recently published by the Hindustan Times, Wajima is one of the biggest tourist destinations in the country. It was already reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic lull for two years.

This year, the town was hoping to finally recover the losses that it incurred in these two years. But their hopes were crushed into rubble, much like their town on the new year’s day itself. In addition to the terrible earthquake, there was also a major fire that broke out in town.

It ravaged a considerable part of the town as well. Many people lost their homes. The death toll that the town has incurred is not known yet, as per the HT article. As per a chef of a hotel in Wajima cited in the article, the impact of the earthquake is extremely bad.
