Journalist Slams Railways After His RAC Ticket Drops To 18 From 12; Gets Confirmed Ticket Later

Chhath Puja is around the corner and devotees living in different parts of the country are excitedly boarding flights and catching trains to head back home. People love spending this special occasion with their loved ones. A journalist planned to visit home in Bihar during Chhath but his travel plans looked uncertain as the status of his RAC ticket changed all of a sudden. What happened later?

Man’s RAC Ticket Dropped From 12 To 18

Taking to the X platform, journalist Himanshu Jha shared his experience of booking tickets with Indian railways and the incident that followed later.

Based on the screenshots added to the post, he booked a Swatantrata Senani Express ticket from New Delhi to Darbhanga. The journey was scheduled to begin on November 3 and he would reach his destination the next day. Initially, the ticket booking status displayed that the waiting list was 124. The RAC ticket was at 31.

As claimed by Himanshu Jha, the ticket RAC was 31 on October 30. On November 2, it changed to 12. Later, the waiting jumped to 18 from 12 after the chart was prepared. Seeing these jumps in numbers and changes in ticket RAC, he slammed the Indian Railways and enquired several questions about their services.

The journalist asked, “What is going on in the railways? What kind of reservation system is this?” The frustrated man further tagged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and asked “Will you understand what will happen if a Bihari cannot visit home on Chhath Puja?”

Railways Responded To The Journalist’s Inconvenience

On November 3, the official Twitter account for support to RailUsers replied to the journalist’s complaint on the X platform. It added that the traveller’s complaint was registered on RailMadad. The man received the complaint number on his mobile number via SMS. In addition, the RailwaySeva provided a link to track the complaint.

Himanshu Jha made a post the next day and thanked Indian Railways and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for arranging a confirmed ticket. The ticket was for November 4, a day before the Chhath Puja festivities are beginning.
