Who is the first cricketer that comes to your mind every time you think of Women’s cricket? Undoubtedly Mithali Raj. She has inspired a generation of girls and women when it comes to cricket and who better to play her in her biopic than Taapsee Pannu, who with her mind-blowing performances on-screen has won millions of hearts. As Taapsee and Mithali gear up for the release of Shabbash Mithu, our Chief Travelling Officer, Kamiya Jani met the two for a Sunday Brunch by Zomato over a staycation.
Taapsee Was Under Pressure While Training For The Biopic
Taapsee Pannu had to get her hands on this skill-based sport, Cricket and she knew that it was not going to be easy. She knew that every scene that she will be playing on-screen will be under great scrutiny by the Indian audience because its cricket and cricket in India is the most loved sport. Another reason why Taapsee felt under pressure was that the scrutiny will also be because its a woman trying to portray another woman playing cricket, thanks to the patriarchal society we live in. Taapsee had never in her life held a bat and had to train and match the level of Mithali Raj who is nowhere less than a pioneer of women’s cricket.
