There is a misconception in the mainstream thinking that an education in the culinary arts cannot provide a sustainable or lucrative profession. Well, Jagran Lakecity University (JLU) in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal is striving to change this exact misconstrued thinking. Our Editor-In-Chief, Kamiya Jani, recently had the opportunity to visit this university. What she experienced there was not just a university, but a haven that hones the talent and creativity that its students already have in abundance.

Every person is good at something. And if you’re at JLU, you’re not only encouraged to explore your talent but are also taught how to put it to practical use. One of the most vibrant universities in Madhya Pradesh, JLU brilliantly marries innovation with education. With state-of-the-art facilities and a campus life pulsating with diverse experiences, JLU students get the best of fun as well as professional training.
Armed with 14 academic blocks, 50 laboratories, more than 125 classrooms, and a library with more than 40,000 books, it provides a perfect chrysalis for its students to evolve and hone their gifts. It has more than 2,500 students from 27 Indian states and eight countries enrolled in around 50 different degree courses that the university offers.
Needless to say, Kamiya was most intrigued by their School of Hospitality and Tourism, so that’s where she went. She got to interact with many diligent and talented students who will undoubtedly take the culinary world by storm someday! Given the number of courses available under Hospitality, JLU’s stood out in the amount of focus it lent to the culinary arts and hands-on practice. Now that’s something you don’t see everywhere!

The university also has a very strong media program which provides hands-on experience and practical knowledge, enabling students to turn their ideas into reality. Shri Gurudev Gupta Production and Design Studios, the digital studio on campus, is equipped with state-of-the-art tech that allows students to acquire skills that directly help them land better job opportunities.

While speaking to the Pro-Chancellor of the university, we found out that every student in their hospitality program manages to bag around four job offers by the time they’re in their third year! Talk about skilled and industry-ready students! No doubt that these students will be immensely successful in their lives.
The old adage about working hard and playing hard is true at this campus. As the evening progresses, students take to the spacious parks and fields to chill and play after a rigorous day of training. This results in the most charming and vibrant campus life that a student could ask for!
