Card Payments Still On Top Of UPI
Though UPI makes up 89% of digital transactions in India, card payments are still in the lead. Moneycontrol report revealed that cards still play an important role in high-value purchases and online shopping, where Visa and Mastercard remain the top choices.
With Tap to Pay, users can add their Visa cards to the app using tokenisation. With this, users can make contactless payments at point-of-sale terminals without carrying their physical cards. As for Cross-Border Scan to Pay, users can scan Visa-supported QR codes in 14 international markets. These include popular destinations such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and South Korea.
Lastly, Smart Accept has been launched for small businesses and merchants. It will let them accept card payments directly through their smartphones, without needing a separate card payment machine.
