Karnataka Is Home To World’s Longest Railway Platform. All You Need To Know About It

Do you know which is the longest railway platform in the entire world? Is it in India or abroad? Well, Karnataka houses this longest rail platform named Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Hubballi Station. The Hubballi station of the South Western Railway zone has made its name in the prestigious Guinness Book of World Records. Indian Railways’ Hubballi station got this recognition because of having the Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji station, the longest railway platform in the world.

The project of developing the Hubballi station comes under the remodelling of the Hubballi yard. This took a budget of about ₹20.1 crores to construct the station. The facilities provided at the Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Hubballi Station are top-notch. While working on this construction project in February 2021, the remodelling of the Hubballi yard was inducted to the use of electronic interlocking. This procedure helps to provide a convenient and simpler experience of receipt and dispatch of trains at the longest railway platform in the world.

World’s Longest Railway Platform Is One Of Karnataka’s Most Important Rail Junctions

South Western Railway also took to its official Twitter handle to share some magnificent facilities and services provided by the railway platform. Take a look at the video here.

  • Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Railway station is located at an impressive location on this rail junction. This is creating a connection to Bengaluru (Davanagere side), Hosapete (Gadag side), and Belagavi/Vasco-Da-Gama (Londa side).
  • There were some issues previously because of single lines but now the new construction has helped to avoid these problems.
  • There were 5 railway platforms already and 3 new ones have been added along with that.
  • Among these present 8 platforms, the eighth one is the longest in the world. This platform no. 8 made its name in the Guinness Book of World Records.
  • Platform No. 8 got the recognition as the world’s longest railway platform by being as long as 1507m.
