This surge in footfall represents a significant year-on-year increase. Compared to the impressive 3.77 lakh visitors in 2023, the 2024 season witnessed a jump of nearly 15%. This upward trend extends further back, with 2021 seeing 2.3 lakh visitors, highlighting the growing popularity of the Tulip Garden as a must-visit destination.

The garden’s allure lies not just in its sheer number of blooms – boasting over 1.7 million tulips in 73 varieties – but also in its meticulously designed layout. Spread across 30 hectares on the fringes of the picturesque Dal Lake, the garden offers a breathtaking spectacle.

Visitors meander through colour-coordinated flowerbeds, each meticulously designed to create a kaleidoscope of vibrant hues. Zabarwan Mountains act as a majestic backdrop, further enhancing the garden’s natural beauty.

Several factors contributed to the record-breaking season. Improved infrastructure and enhanced marketing efforts by the Jammu and Kashmir tourism department played a crucial role. Additionally, the easing of travel restrictions post-pandemic undoubtedly facilitated a rise in tourist influx.

Notably, even though April witnessed uncharacteristically frequent rain showers and cooler temperatures, visitor numbers remained high, a testament to the garden’s enduring appeal.

The economic impact of this surge in tourism is significant. Local businesses, particularly those involved in the hospitality sector, have reaped the benefits. From hotels and restaurants to souvenir shops and transportation services, the increased tourist footfall has generated a much-needed boost to the region’s economy.

The vibrant tapestry of the Tulip Garden is not just a feast for the eyes; it serves as a symbol of Kashmir’s burgeoning tourism industry, and a promise of a flourishing future.
