It is terribly hot in Thusharagiri and the weather has been extremely unbearable and harsh for everyone. The heat has increased to such an extent that the waterfall has started to dry up. Nestled about 50 km from Kozhikode, Thusharagiri waterfall is a famous place to explore. It sees an epic number of visitors every year but the present situation is quite the opposite. With the temperatures rising horribly and adverse conditions, the pristine waterfall has now dried up.

Surrounded by lush greenery and serenity in abundance, the views are absolutely breathtaking. On usual days, visitors rush to this waterfall to witness its natural charm and magical flow of water and enjoy a relaxing time. However, no one can now enjoy similar experiences here as the water has dried up and it is just too hot to sit idle under no shade.

The Kerala Forest Department has been managing all the tourist operations at this destination for around 19 years now. Flowing in between a verdant jungle, the journey to witness the waterfall’s beauty is accompanied by the most alluring views from all around. If you love trekking, you will have a great time here. But only visit the waterfall once the water begins to flow, preferably after the monsoon season.

The number of visitors exploring the destination has dropped quite noticeably. Both the scorching heat and the drying up of the waterfall are primary reasons behind nature enthusiasts not heading to visit Thusharagiri waterfall right now.

This waterfall witnessed only about 15,000 tourists in April 2024, according to a report by Mathrubhumi English. Back in April 2022, the footfall was about 12,000 and it jumped to 17,000 in 2023. However, the number dropped by around 2,000 travellers this year.
