The International Paragliding Festival has begun in the Vagamon region of Kerala. The festival began on March 13 and will continue till March 17. The festival is organised by the Department of Tourism of Kerala to promote the state as a premier destination for adventure sports. It is hoped that the festival will aid in showcasing Kerala’s tourism potential. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this paragliding festival in Kerala.

Vagamon Is Hosting International Paragliding Festival

According to an article, recently published by The Print, the festival was inaugurated by PA Mohamed Riyas, who is the Minister of Tourism and Public Works, at 4 PM on March 13. Roshi Augustine, the State Water Resources Minister, will preside over this event.

So far, the festival has witnessed the participation of more than 100 renowned national and international paragliders. This makes it the largest aero sports festival in the entire country. This is just the first of the four international championships the state will host this year.

The footfall at this event is estimated to be a total of 35,000. In addition to these in-person spectators, the event is estimated to attract more than 20 lakh viewers across digital and social media platforms from around the world.

What Can You Expect From This Thrilling Tournament

The paragliding festival will also witness the participation of units from the Indian Air Force, Navy and Army. One of the major event highlights is the Spot Landing competition. Gliders will get to flaunt their precision and gliding skills in the competition.

The prize money for the event is a whopping ₹3 lakh. This event is an initiative by the Paragliding Association of India to demonstrate that Kerala can be a hub of adventure tourism.
