Killer Whales Spotted In Abu Dhabi & Dubai; EAD Warns People To Avoid Swimming In Sea

Summers are the time for people to spring out to the beachside to feel the salty wind and a splash of water. But it’s better to be off these beaches if you are in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The crowd in the Emirates have reported about a killer whale invasion in the waters. The species are Orca, and they were spotted in pair swimming across Abu Dhabi followed by Dubai.

Orca Spotted Swimming Across Abu Dhabi Then Dubai

This is one of the first times a toothed whale from the family of oceanic dolphins has been seen off Abu Dhabi. The Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) reported seeing killer whales off Abu Dhabi’s coast. Orcas, which can adapt to both colder and warmer temperatures, are among the marine animals that migrate the most. The UAE Forsan reported seeing similar whales in Abu Dhabi in 2021.

Two fishermen in Abu Dhabi saw the aforementioned orcas swimming through the water. For the next two days, swimming in the sea is not recommended, according to Abu Dhabi. Some hotel operators received an email from Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism’s environment, health, and safety unit ordering them to instantly cease all beach swimming excursions for the following two days.

The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, reported on Wednesday that an orca had been spotted in Dubai’s waters off Jabal Ali.

Dolphins and Orcas have a tight relationship. Because of the ancient mariners’ sightings of groups of orcas hunting and consuming larger whale species, the orcas were given the epithet “killer whale.” Orca whales are not viewed as a threat to humans in particular, according to EAD studies. However, the organisation continues to advise people against entering the water to prevent any accidents.

Since orcas are apex predators, they don’t have any natural enemies. Netizens have expressed their delight with the spotting of these species in warmer climates like Dubai & Abu Dhabi. Although sources confirm their adaption in warmer and cold temperatures, people were left amazed by these spotting in the Emirates.
