Dubai, renowned as the host city of Expo 2020, anticipates the presence of King Charles III of the United Kingdom next month. King Charles III, ascending the throne earlier this year will make his first official visit to Dubai on December 1. The occasion marks his attendance at the inaugural ceremony of the World Climate Action Summit, taking place from November 30 to December 12 at Expo City Dubai.

A Royal Commitment To Climate Advocacy In Dubai

Recognized for his zeal towards environmental causes and sustainable development, King Charles III will deliver a keynote address at the COP28 opening. His speech aims to inspire global leaders and delegates participating in the summit. This holds paramount significance in addressing the escalating climate crisis and meeting the objectives.

The royal visit to Dubai aligns with an invitation from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. At the behest of the UK Government, King Charles III’s visit will involve strategic discussions with regional leaders in preparation for COP28.

While this marks King Charles III’s first official visit to the UAE as king, his relationship with the country spans over decades. His prior visits, including a notable one in 1989 with Princess Diana, and subsequent visits in 1999, 2014, 2015, and 2016, reflect his enduring ties with the Emirates.
