Kochi Water Metro, which is the country’s first water metro transport project, is adding more trips to cater to the growing demand for the water metro on this particular route. The trips are being added to the route between Vyttila and Kakkanad. Earlier, the intervals between each trip were 35 to 45 minutes. Now, however, this interval has been reduced. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about these new trips.

According to an article which was recently published by The Times Of India or TOI, a total of 14 trips have been added to the route between Vyttila and Kakkanad. The increased trips began on February 26, Monday.
Previously, the interval between each trip was 35 minutes during peak hours and 45 minutes during non-peak hours. Now, after the increased frequency, the intervals are reduced to 25 minutes during peak hours and 30 minutes during non-peak hours.
This commercial metro route began on April 27 last year. It was the first water metro service in the entire country. When it initially began, it offered limited services. The boats were only operational in the morning and evening hours from 8 AM to 11 AM and 4 PM to 7 PM.

Now after the increased frequency of the boats, the timings have changed. The first boat will depart at 7:30 AM from Vyttila. The last boat from this place will depart at 7:25 PM. Correspondingly, the first boat from Kakkanad will depart at 8 AM and the last boat will depart at 7:55 PM.
After the addition of the extra trips, the total number of journeys between the two destinations is 27.
