Amid the rise in COVID-19 cases, West Bengal has imposed stringent restrictions from May 16, 2021, barring all non-essential movements. Those involved in essential services, like delivery persons and media personnel, will be allowed movement that too with e-passes. People can obtain the e-pass by filling out a form available on the dedicated website. The lockdown will be in force in the state till May 30 and all schools, colleges, offices and other institutions will remain closed till then.

How To Apply For E-Pass In Kolkata Amid Lockdown 2021?
Kolkata Police has shared the steps to apply for an e-pass for the movement of essential service providers on its Twitter handle. Those who need to travel within Kolkata during the pandemic will have to visit the Corona Pass website by Kolkata Police to obtain the Vehicular Exemption Pass. After filling out the form, the users will receive a QR code via e-mail or SMS. They will need to download the pass and display it at the checking points. The pass will remain valid for the prescribed route or area and for the sanctioned period.

Retail Shops To Remain Open For Fixed Timings
During the lockdown, grocery shops, bazaars, haats, fruits and vegetable shops can remain open from 7 AM to 10 AM. Sweet shops can remain open from 10 AM to 5 PM. Jewellery and saree shops can remain open between 12 noon and 3 PM. Home delivery of all commodities can continue. Meanwhile, Kolkata Police has told the city people not to come out except for an emergency.
