An Aircraft Engineering Facility Reported The Gas Leak
The much-talked-about chemical leak was seen at an aircraft engineering facility, the Southern Support Zone Sepang Aircraft Engineering facility. Though the unexpected episode did not harm any of the passengers present at the airport during that time, it affected the health conditions of others. According to a report by India Today, about 39 people fell ill following the gas leak at one of the Kuala Lumpur Airport’s engineering sections.
The victims are employees of three companies working at the site, the fire department shared. A local rescue officer stated that these victims faced problems because of dizziness and nausea, according to a report by CNA (ChannelNewsAsia). They began facing these symptoms after the leak at the airport. They were quickly taken for medical assistance. 24 of the affected people were discharged soon. One has been admitted to a hospital. The rest of the 14 sick people visited the Air Disaster Unit.
Though the gas leak triggered chaos and caused people to fall ill at the Kuala Lumpur Airport, the scheduled flight services continued as per plans. The journeys did not face any delays, cancellations, or disruptions. Also, the incident did not cause trouble for passengers. They could travel without any inconvenience caused due to the chemical leak at the aircraft engineering facility.

What Was The Gas That Stirred Chaos?
At around 11:23 AM (local time), the Selangor State Fire Department received an alert about the gas leak at the engineering facility. The rescue officer shared that the gas was methyl mercaptan. There was an unused tank positioned at the airport facility, where the major trouble began. The concerned teams have already taken care of the leak. Soon, they will dispose of it by deconstructing its parts.
