Travelling in trains can be stressful. Losing a ticket can make the stress worse regardless of whether the destination you’re travelling to is new and unknown or familiar. It is always a hassle when you lose a train ticket because not only do you risk losing your reserved seat, but you also run the risk of paying a hefty fine for travelling without a ticket. Well, guess what? You don’t have to worry about that anymore because Indian Railways will issue a duplicate ticket if you lose your original!
Indian Railways Will Issue Duplicate Tickets
Now, you no longer have to worry about losing your train ticket! Indian Railways has recently announced that passengers who have lost their train tickets can talk to the travelling ticket examiner or the TTE, and for a nominal charge, get a duplicate ticket which will save them from paying the fine for travelling without a ticket.
The exact process can be gleaned from the Indian Railways website. Passengers travelling in the sleeper and second sleeper class who have lost their tickets will have to pay a processing charge of ₹50 to obtain a duplicate ticket. Passengers travelling in the AC coach will have to pay a processing charge of ₹100.

Duplicate Ticket Available From The TTE Or The Station’s Ticket Counter
In case the passenger loses their ticket, they can approach a TTE or go to the ticket counter on their platform and ask for a duplicate ticket. Having a platform ticket would be greatly beneficial as it is proof that you booked the ticket. In case you find the ticket before the train leaves the platform, you can go back and get return the duplicate ticket and get a full refund.
Furthermore, if the original ticket is torn and is no longer valid because of it, the duplicate ticket will cost 25 per cent of the travel fare. If the lost ticket was a confirmed one and was lost after the preparation of the chart, then it will cost the passengers 50 per cent of the travel fare. People who were on the waiting list will not receive duplicate tickets.
