Louvre Abu Dhabi is serving up more than just art this summer in collabration with Kooya Filipino Eatery. The iconic museum is turning into a food hotspot with a Filipino pop-up that brings flavourbombs, rich heritage, and a dining experience that will make you feel a little diverted from the galleries.

Filipino Flavours Take Over Louvre Abu Dhabi This June

For two weekends only June 27th-28 thfrom 6 pm to 11 pm, Kooya Filipino Eatery will take over the museum’s café. If you’ve never heard of Kooya, here’s your chance to discover what you’ve been missing. At the helm is Chef JP Anglo, the man known for shaking up Filipino comfort food back home. This isn’t your average pop-up. Chef JP has whipped up a menu that blends tradition with a fresh twist, think food your Filipino friend’s grandma might make, but with a bit more excitement.

The starters already sound like a party. There’s bulalo empanadas packed with slow-cooked beef marrow, crispy okoy fritters that are basically golden bites of happiness, and classic lumpia Shanghai fried to crunchy perfection. And that’s just to get you warmed up.

Mains That Tell A Story

Move on to mains and you’re in for a proper feast. The adobo fried chicken is as juicy as it sounds, while the beef belly caldereta melts in your mouth after hours of slow cooking. You’ll find kare kare too, that rich, peanutty stew that’s a staple on any Filipino celebration table. And for the veggie lovers? Gising gising will have you spooning up coconut cream-soaked greens topped with salty pops of fish roe. If you’re feeling adventurous, the squid-ink palabok noodles will be your new obsession.

Of course, no Filipino feast ends without dessert. The halo halo here is a rainbow in a glass,  shaved ice, ice cream, yam, and 16 (yes, sixteen!) toppings. If that doesn’t do it, the buttery Silvanas cookies will. They’re sweet, soft, and dangerously moreish.

Sip, Savour, Repeat

You won’t go thirsty either. The drinks list is inspired by the Philippines’ tropical vibe. Imagine basil coolers, pomelo and lemongrass iced tea with kaffir lime, all fresh, all punchy, and all perfect for a hot Abu Dhabi evening. So here’s the plan: mark your diary, gather your foodie mates, and head to Saadiyat Island for a night that promises to feed your belly and your soul.
