According to The Times of India, the massive fire in Lucknow gutted over 280 shanties in a makeshift settlement in Vikas Nagar. The blaze was so intense that thick clouds of smoke were visible from miles away. Visuals circulating on social media show plumes of black smoke engulfing the skyline.
Rescue agencies and authorities took more than three hours to evacuate residents to safer areas and bring the fire under control. While several people were injured, no casualties have been reported so far. The fire reportedly broke out between 5 and 5:30 pm on Wednesday evening. The blaze has left over 1,000 people homeless, with displaced families shifted to temporary shelters.

Besides the slum cluster, two nearby two-storey buildings were also destroyed in the massive fire in Lucknow. The fire department, police, district administration, along with NDRF and SDRF teams, launched a massive rescue and firefighting operation, with around 20 fire tenders battling the flames for nearly three hours to bring the blaze under control.
Following the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the situation and directed officials to reach the site immediately and expedite relief operations. He also instructed authorities to ensure the provision of essential relief materials, including food, shelter, and other basic necessities.
According to Hindustan Times, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak rushed to the scene to inspect the situation and issued directives to officials from the administrative and health departments, ensuring that relief and rescue operations were carried out on an urgent basis.
