The Maha Kumbh Mela commenced on Monday and almost 1.5 crore people took a dip in the holy water on the first day! Authorities are expecting more than 45 crore people to visit Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh to attend this 45-day spiritual mela. So, for pilgrim convenience, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has developed a special webpage that will provide hourly, daily and weekly weather updates for the Maha Kumbh Mela. IMD has launched a dedicated webpage to provide weather updates for the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. According to The Economic Times, this special page will offer regular weather updates on Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj and neighbouring cities, including Ayodhya, Lucknow, Agra, Kanpur, and Varanasi, in Uttar Pradesh.

Besides temperature updates, this dedicated webpage will also provide information on wind chill, wind speed and direction, humidity and air quality. You can get hourly, three-hourly, and weekly forecasts for Prayagraj on the webpage here online. With this, IMD hopes to provide pilgrims with the latest weather information to help them navigate and plan their itinerary around the mela.

Pilgrim safety is a top priority at the Maha Kumbh Mela. According to Hindustan Times, the state government has deployed NDRF teams, Uttar Pradesh Police’s water police units, and more than 10,000 police personnel around the mela ground for the safety of people attending the Kumbh mela.

In a heartwarming gesture, the Uttar Pradesh government organised a grand rose petal shower from a helicopter for devotees taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam on Monday, the occasion of ‘Paush Purnima Snan’.
