Maharashtra’s Fav Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve To Get New Entry Gate At Buffer Zone In Somnath

Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) is Maharashtra’s favourite reserve for tiger sightings. Nestled in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, this is the state’s oldest and largest national park. And now this tiger reserve will soon get a new entry gate at the buffer zone in Somnath.

Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve Is Now India’s Only Tiger Reserve To Have Maximum Tourism Gates

According to a report by The Times Of India, Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) will now get another entry gate on July 22 in the buffer zone at Somnath. This will be Tadoba’s 15th entry gate at the buffer zone, making it India’s only tiger reserve to have maximum tourism gates.

This news comes after local villagers urged authorities to add another gate to boost tourism. Buffer tourism at the other 14 gates has led to a boost in tourism. Buffer zones in wildlife sanctuaries are transition zones where human activity, particularly human settlement is permitted. Here, wildlife sightings are less in comparison to core zones. But tourism is permitted. This is a protected area to reinforce the conservation of flora and fauna.

However, safari charges at the new Somnath gate at Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve are similar to other buffer gates. Somnath entry gate is perched in the Mul forest around 50 km from Chandrapur. From Nagpur, it’s 146 km away via the Warora-Bhadravati-Chandrapur-Mul. And it’s 200 km away from the entire stretch from Mul-Chandrapur. Tourists are assured that the area between Mul and Chandrapur has good wildlife and is well-forested.

As per TOI, 4 safari vehicles are available at the moment and private vehicles aren’t permitted at this entry gate.
