A report by NDTV, reveals that the chaiwala from Nagpur had no idea who Bill Gates was when they filmed the viral Instagram reel. Dolly Chaiwala revealed to ANI that he didn’t know who Bill Gates was. He adds, “Maine samjha woh foreign country ka banda hai aur mujhe use chai pilana hai” ( I thought he belonged to a foreign country and I had to serve him tea).
When asked about Bill Gates’s reaction when he prepared tea, here’s what Dolly said. “Woh bas bilkul baajoo mein khade the. Kuch baat cheeth nahin hui humare beech” ( He stood next to me. No conversation happened between us). Dolly said he prepared tea and once done, he served it to Bill Gates. Inspired by South Indian films, Dolly Singh adopted a distinct style and get-up for serving tea. When the billionaire tasted the chai, he said, “Wow! Dolly Ki Chai.”

While filming the viral video and even serving chai to Bill Gates, Dolly Singh had absolutely no clue who he was. The next day, after the chaiwala returned to Nagpur, his hometown, he realised Bill Gates’s stature. Dolly Chaiwala stated to ANI that on seeing his video going viral he felt extremely happy. The Nagpur-based chaiwala now wishes to serve tea to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He wishes to continue bringing smiles on the faces of his customers with his happy nature and of course, his signature chai.
