Krishna Chandra Das is a renowned businessman who built the strongest pillar of popularising rosomalai and rosogolla in Kolkata. Rosomalai is one of the most loved and relished Bengali sweets. You will be surprised to hear that this delectable sweet was made for the first time just as an experiment, according to a report by The Times of India. He introduced the delightful sweet to the world back in the 1930s.

He and his son Sarada Charan opened a sweet shop in Kolkata’s Jorasanko in 1930 with the aim of marketing K.C. Das’s glorious invention, according to a report by the Financial Express. Soon, they launched the K.C. Das sweet shop. Later, Sarada Charan is the one who opened the iconic heritage business, K.C. Das Private Limited. Soon, the sweet business was reorganised as a legal one under the Companies Act of 1946. This played a huge role in representing Bengali sweets in places and making them popular. In fact, it still continues to do so.

The Confectioner Introduced The Concept Of Canned Rosogolla In The 1930s

Now, his technique is utilised by many different brands not just in Kolkata but in different cities and states all around us. Without any single thought, it can be said that this businessman is one of the eminent people who had an immense contribution in making rosogolla so popular not just in Kolkata or India but everywhere. During the 1930s, rosogolla was the only sweet that was sold in sealed cans. It was indeed a one-of-a-kind invention and a significant one to remember forever.
