Dubai’s theme park district is about to get a lot wetter. Fernando Eiroa, CEO of Dubai Holding Entertainment, has confirmed that a new waterpark will open at Dubai Parks and Resorts within the next couple of months. He shared the news at the Rise summit in Dubai on Wednesday, 14 October.

What We Know About The New Waterpark

Eiroa said the attraction has been designed with summer in mind, with plenty of water around it. Time Out Dubai reports that the new park can already be spotted near MOTIONGATE. Once it opens, it will be the second waterpark at the resort after LEGOLAND Water Park.

What Hasn’t Been Announced Yet

The name, exact opening date, rides and ticket prices are still under wraps. The operator also hasn’t said whether guests will need a separate ticket or whether entry will be bundled into existing passes.

It is also unclear whether the park will target a different age group from LEGOLAND Water Park, which is built for children aged two to 12, or bring bigger rides than the existing one. Eiroa did not say.

A Busy Season At Dubai Parks And Resorts

The resort reopened on 7 October after a six-month closure. According to Eiroa, the break was used to add restaurants, refurbish attractions and carry out maintenance. Riverland Dubai now has 14 new attractions, including go-karts, bowling and Lamborghini simulators. Over at Real Madrid World, billed as the first football theme park in the world, families can take on each other in hands-on football challenges.

Dubai’s Entertainment Push

Eiroa described Dubai as an entertainment destination in its own right, no longer just a city known for hotels and experiences. He also pointed to Global Village, which now draws close to 50,000 visitors a day on average, and said its model is to introduce something new every season.

Where It Sits In Dubai Holding’s Line-up

Dubai Holding Entertainment’s wider portfolio includes Ain Dubai, The View at The Palm, Wild Wadi Waterpark, The Green Planet, Coca-Cola Arena and ROXY Cinemas, alongside the resort’s theme parks and restaurants.
