Saudi Arabia recently passed a new role. Yes, according to this rule by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, now central kitchen facilities in the kingdom must have a certified food specialist. Keeping the public health and safety paramount, here’s all you need to know about the development from Riyadh.
Certified Food Specialist In Saudi Central Kitchens A Must
As revealed recently in a report by the Saudi Gazette, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing just issued an updated regulatory requirement. This makes it mandatory to have the presence of a certified food specialist in a central kitchen facility. The requirement also includes advanced technical operational controls. This includes a provision for ventilation, water drainage, and cooling.
Developing A Regulatory Structure Of Food Activities
This system must meet specifications so that worker movement and cross-contamination are taken into account. Not to mention, periodic inspections of preparation, storage, and serving areas must also be undertaken. This will ensure that there is the highest level of hygiene and food safety, especially when it comes to high-risk food.
With updated regulations introduced by the ministry, they are a part of its effort to develop the regulatory structure of food activities. Not to mention, they also aim to raise operational efficiency, make food safety even better, and while also creating an attractive investment environment that supports economic growth.

A Qualitative Shift In The Management Of Central Kitchens
With the new requirements, the ministry aims to represent a qualitative shift in the management and operation of central kitchens. Not to mention, this also includes precise criteria. From licensing requirements and site selection to adhering to specifications and providing a sufficient number of parking spaces, these are all included. As a result, food establishment owners and investors are required to review the new regulations through the guidelines that are published on the official platforms.
So, if you are a food owner with a central kitchen, you might want to keep this updated list of regulations in mind to avoid any penalties. And if you happen to be a foodie, you’ll probably be about the new regulations that make eating out feel safer.
