Moombai & Co, a petite Parsi cafe is just where you must go if you love anything Bollywood. Here’s a lo-down on what to expect and what to eat at this Bollywood-infused cafe.

What’s It?

Dubai has a petite Parsi cafe docked in The H Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road. Moombai & Co is a modern Parsi cafe that effortlessly fuses Mumbai’s old-world charm with Dubai’s hip culture. As for the menu, expect an interesting lineup, extensively picked from the streets of Mumbai. Plus, the restaurant plays old Bollywood songs and serves alcohol.

The Ambience

The cafe does not house marble flooring or plush seating, instead has a decor that screams all things Bollywood. Step in and you will instantly be transported to the 19th century. And the decor is reminiscent of this, too- featuring brick walls, old movie posters, furniture made of mahogany, cane chairs and pendulum clocks.

The Menu

As for the menu, the cafe is like going to your grandma’s house– visit your grandma back home and you’ll definitely not leave hungry.

We recommend you skip the wine and start off with a Barf ka gola that comes with Vodka and chaat masala. That said, the menu has some really interesting dishes including Masala Calamari, Kheema Pao– a signature delicacy of minced lamb cooked on a slow fire, signature chicken berry biryani- loaded with mixed berries and cooked in authentic earthenware and much more.

If you’re up for some authentic Parsi cuisine, try their Patra Ni Macchi. An all-time favourite Parsi delicacy, the dish is made of fish wrapped in banana leaf and steamed. Regulars swear by their Sindhi Kadhi, Bhuna Gosht, and Butter chicken.

The cafe also has a tucked-in bar called the Permit Bar, offering happy hours through the week from 11:00 pm to 1:00 am. As for the liquor menu, expect Bollywood-themed drinks. Think- Munna Bhai MBBS, Bollywood Jhatka, Gini Ka Jaadu, PK Hai Kay and much more.

What Else?

And if you want to skip alcohol, try the ‘No Daaru‘ drinks like Nimboo pani, Sharbat, Masala cola, or sweet lassi. Lastly, chai and coffee lovers can satiate their needs at the cafe’s chai shop or coffee house.
