More Than 100 AC Buses Will Be Spotted Plying On Kolkata Streets

If you are from Kolkata, you already know about the unbearable heat in the City of Joy. The temperature this summer season is really getting out of hand in different parts of West Bengal. Travelling on public transport, especially crowded buses is really a struggle at such times and to deal with the problem, the West Bengal State Transport Department came to the conclusion of running more AC buses on the streets.

Kolkata Streets Will See More AC Buses Than Usual This Summer Season

Daily passengers need to travel long distances to reach their destination every single day and this is a tiring job to do, especially in this scorching heat in Kolkata. The West Bengal State Transport Department is now beginning to run more than 100 AC buses on Kolkata streets, according to a report by India Today.

More government AC buses will make the journey a bit easier with lesser crowds and an air conditioner is a good idea in this summer season. The decision of running over 100 AC buses has been taken to ease the regular journey for commuters.

Snehasis Chakraborty is the West Bengal Transport Minister and he shared that these AC buses will be running on the streets of Kolkata in different phases. As reported by India Today, these buses will be running between April and May.

You will be able to spot these government AC buses running on some of the busiest routes in Kolkata. Mostly these will be proving services during busy hours such as the office timings. Some of the routes where you will be able to commute on these buses are:

  • Dharmatala
  • Jadavpur
  • Ruby
  • Sealdah
  • Sector V

Plans Have Been Made For This New Beginning

A proper plan is required to start these AC buses on different routes in the City of Joy. And the plan is already underway. More buses on the roads will not be a massive help for the passengers but also a bit of relief for various transport facilities too.

There are so many buses that are standing in the bus depot. Now these buses will be brought back to the streets for convenient journeys.
