Several parts of the US were hit by a storm which resulted in the cancellation of flights. According to the reports, due to heavy rainfall, several regions of the country were under the threat of flooding. In fact, airports near New York were the most affected due to this! Due to thunderstorms and adverse weather conditions, Sunday saw significant difficulties for Americans travelling around the nation. Three main airports serving New York City were most significantly impacted, according to FlightAware. These airports are Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy International, and LaGuardia Airports. Additionally, more than 1600 flights were cancelled in the US.

The majority of flights in the US on Sunday were cancelled, with Newark Liberty International being the primary culprit. Travellers had troubles with not just their flights— they also had problems with their luggage delivery. The airports at LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy International placed second and third, respectively, in the nation for the most flight cancellations.

The Tweed New Haven Airport in Connecticut had to close its terminal on Sunday due to flooding and it was closed until further notice.

Passengers Waited For More Than 2 Hours For Their Luggage!

As per the New York Post report, several travellers reportedly waited more than two hours at Newark to receive their luggage. Only approximately a third of the passengers had their luggage delivered, according to the traveller, and several travellers’ stuff appeared to have vanished.

Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston are all included in the moderate possibility of heavy rainfall that extends from Jersey through southwestern Maine, according to the weather forecast.

New York witnessed rainfall between one and three inches. While it was dark, it had rained up to five inches in some locations. According to Kathy Hochul, the governor of New York, the rain and ensuing flooding resulted in nearly $50 million in damage and the death of one person.

Over 56 million people in the Northeast region were under a flood watch on Sunday morning as a storm system brought flash flooding to some areas of Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
