Motorists In Dubai Will Now Have To Pay For Parking In Several Locations

Gone are the days of free parking in the UAE. Get ready to pay a fixed amount if you park your vehicle in specific areas in Dubai. Palm Jumeriah will soon get parking meters installed. Expect the installation process to be complete by September. Right now, you can observe these meters in East Crescent of the Palm, beside Aloft hotel, The Pointe and at Golden Mile Galleria 1 and 2.

Depending on the location, parking fees may be different or even complimentary. The app might use your car’s licence plate number for this validation. These parking metres are managed by Parkonic, a parking guidance management solution, via a smartphone app rather than directly connecting to RTA.

How To Operate The App?

Parkonic features a straightforward four-step process that aims to cut down on time wasted on old methods. It offers a more concise, more enjoyable parking experience.
You must download the Parkonic app (available for iOS and Android), enter your location, pick a parking space, and click book.

There are a few different ways to pay. You can install the Parkonic app, create an account for your car, and then deposit funds into it. The portal will process payments immediately as soon as you leave a parking lot.

If not, you can pay at a booth on the property or online. The operator of the parking lot will decide on rates.

Make sure your e-wallet has adequate money. According to the portal, individuals with outstanding parking costs, both listed and non-listed, would have 48 hours to recharge their accounts to pay.

The Dubai traffic department will impose a Dhs150 fine within 48 hours.
