Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has good news for senior travellers. The air-conditioned Shivneri and Ashwamedh buses that operate from Mumbai to Pune will now give relaxation in travel fares for senior citizens. All buses under the Maharashtra State Road Transport provide free travel to senior citizens, including Shivshahi – a comfort bus. The buses Shivneri and Ashwamedh were an exception to this rule. And senior citizens had to pay the total fare in order to travel by these buses. But not anymore. Read on to know more.

The Ministry of Road and Transport of Maharashtra had put in a proposal for free travel for citizens above 75 years in air-conditioned buses. The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has accepted the proposal. Furthermore, citizens above the age of 65 years will get relaxation in the ticket fares as well.

Mumbai-Pune Frequently Travelled Bus Route

This is, certainly, a piece of good news for our senior travellers. Mumbai to Pune is a frequent route as many people travel through this. This free travel for people above 75 years is a welcomed and much-awaited decision. Moreover, citizens above 65 years have benefitted from this as well. The relaxation in the travel fares is a good decision as it will decrease the strain on their pockets.
