The Mumbai Coastal Road is touted to be a relatively eco-friendly infrastructure. As such, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or the BMC is planning to set up a total of nine parks between the Priyadarshini Park or PDP and Worli stretch. In addition to the parks, it will also have a promenade that will stretch across 7.5 kilometres. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this particular feature of the road.
Mumbai Coastal Road To Have Nine Parks Between Worli And PDP
According to an article which was recently published by the Hindustan Times or HT, around 70 per cent of the open space on the coastal road will have a green cover The remaining 30 per cent area will get paved walkways and cycle tracks to make the road more enjoyable.
In addition to this, the stretch between PDP and Worli will get a whopping nine parks. These parks will have a variety of activities for age groups of all kinds. Once the parks are ready, they will be open to the public between 8 AM and 8 PM.
The promenade on the other hand will be open round the clock to provide easy access. The promenade will also have around 20 underpasses which will let pedestrians walk from one side of the road to the other with ease. These underpasses will be spaced at 400 metres.
Construction Of The Parks To Begin In The Month Of November
The construction of the parks will commence in November. This concept was envisioned by an infrastructure firm called AECOM. Also, the parks will add almost 70 hectares of green cover on the bridge.
The open spaces, as per the HT article will be divided into three separate zones. There will also be a total of nine entry and exit points from which the aforementioned facilities will be accessible. These will be at Atria Mall, Haji Ali Juice Center, Mahalaxmi, Madraswadi, Lotus Jetty, Setalvad Lane and Tata Garden.
