Mumbai: Here’s What’s Allowed And What’s Not In Lockdown 4.0

Mumbai, the city that never sleeps, is currently hibernating in the wake of the coronavirus! Often called the maximum city, it has emerged as the city with maximum infections too!

But as the city grapples with the COVID-19 with all its might, the number of cases continue to spiral upwards. Currently, the number cases in the city stands at a scary 19,967, emerging as the centre of the coronavirus outbreak in India.

While Mumbaikars already knew that the Lockdown 4.0 would’t be any different for them, given the rising number of cases, the Govt of Maharashtra in accordance with the Centre has allowed for a few things in our city! Let’s have a look!

Mumbai Lockdown: What’s Allowed, What’s Not!

As we foray into the Lockdown 4.0, here’s a list of what’s allowed and what’s not in Mumbai:

What’s Allowed In Mumbai After Lockdown 4.0

1) Just like before, only essential services are permitted in containment zones. While people are not allowed to enter or exit these areas, only health care professionals and essential service providers are allowed to do so.

2) Essential goods shops are allowed to be open.

3) Inter-state movement of all types of goods or cargo (including empty trucks) has been permitted.

4) Restaurants are allowed to operate their kitchens for home delivery as before.

5) Neighborhood shops have been allowed to function with staggered timings, where more than 5 people are not allowed at a time and a six feet distance among customers needs to be maintained.

6) E-commerce companies such as Amazon, Flipkart have now been allowed to deliver non-essential products in red zones.

7) Banks and financial services are allowed to operate except for containment zones.

What’s Not Allowed In Mumbai After Lockdown 4.0

1) Movement of people is strictly prohibited between 7 pm to 7 am, except for essential activities.

2) All cinema halls, shopping malls, gyms, swimming pools, parks, theatres continue to remain shut.

3) Parlors and salons continue to remain banned.

4) Non-essential shops will remain closed as before.

5) Hotels and other hospitality services are to remain closed.

6) Mumbai suburban railway services as well as the metro services will not ply.

7) Home delivery of liquor is permitted in the red zones in Maharashtra. However, it is not permitted in Mumbai after Mumbaikars flouted all social distancing rules at liquor shops.

8) Private offices continue to remain shut in Mumbai and offices have been urged to practice remote working facilities like work from home.

9) Interstate travel has been banned, and so have aggregator cab services like Ola and Uber.

10) Educational institutions including schools and colleges will also remain shut.

11) Places of worship will continue to remain shut and large gatherings of people has been banned.

Yes, we Mumbaikars have to hold the fort for longer but that seems like the only way to get through this! So Stay Home, Stay Safe, Mumbai!
