Bagging The Prestigious Award For Innovative Initiatives
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) was honoured with the ‘Innovation Champion’ award at the Wings India Awards this year. This was mainly due to their initiatives with the first-of-its-kind commissioning of the Taxiway Z. This initiative highlights Mumbai International Airport’s dedication to innovation and operational excellence. The CSMIA credited their diligent and efficient team for the innovative concept of Taxiway Z.
The Wings India is Asia’s largest gathering in the field of Civil Aviation. The event is a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). The award function took place on January 18 in Hyderabad. Each year, the committee at Wings India Awards recognises airlines, airports, institutions, and organisations from the aviation industry that have created benchmarks and made notable contributions in the field of Civil Aviation in India.

Mumbai International Airport Continue Its Exemplary Hospitality
The Taxiway Z is a flexible-use apron where a taxiway and parking stands are interchangeably used at the Mumbai International Airport. This innovative idea was strategically planned and reduced the holding time for inbound aircraft. This, in turn, led to improving On-Time Performance (OTP) and led to a reduction in carbon emissions due to reduced taxi time for our airline customers. Truly an innovative idea by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
