A woman in Mumbai has come forward on social media alleging harassment by men in Juhu’s Janki Kutir area. Viyaa Doshi claimed that this is the third time she’s been targeted in the posh locality by semi-naked men.

Woman Alleges Harassment On Street

Doshi shared a video on her social media platform showing a man jogging on the footpath in shorts and a vest. In her post, Doshi alleged the men follow a similar pattern. They allegedly call out to her loudly after removing their pants in the middle of the street. She expressed concern about her safety and urged the Mumbai Police to increase security in the area.

Doshi further stated in her post, “I have heard multiple women tell me similar stories in this location.” She added that she attempted to reach the Nirbhaya Squad, a women’s safety initiative, but her call went unanswered.

Mumbai Police Responds

The video, accompanied by Doshi’s statement, reads: “Juhu, Janki Kutir Area. This man was seen misbehaving with his pants down, calling out to me loudly in the middle of the street. This was at 8:55 AM today. This is the third time this has happened to me in this location, from different men.”

Doshi concluded her post with a plea for help: “I urge you to increase the safety of this area as I have heard multiple women tell me similar stories in this location. I tried calling the Nirbhaya Squad but my call wasn’t answered. Please help.” The Mumbai Police responded to Doshi’s post, acknowledging the situation. They requested her contact details in a direct message for further investigation.

This incident highlights concerns about women’s safety in public spaces in, even in affluent areas like Juhu. The woman’s allegation of harassment and the investigation’s progress along with any further action taken by the Mumbai Police remain to be seen.
