Content creator Zervaan J. Bunshah (@bunshah) shared a video with the text, “Good Bye K. Rustom.” In the caption, he mentioned that he had been a fan of the ice creams during his childhood, but felt that the standards had declined over the years. In the video, he said that while many people in Mumbai were saddened by K. Rustom & Co.’s closure, he believed the place was “overpriced and piece of crap.”
He further stated that the ice creams were popular among Mumbaikars largely because of nostalgia and lacked real quality. According to him, people should move on from the nostalgia, as continuing to celebrate the brand despite the hygiene concerns made little sense. He said he was happy to bid farewell to the iconic establishment. He also criticised the way customers were treated at the counter and sarcastically remarked that the staff could now “treat us rudely.”
