A community kitchen is where a group of people meet every day to plan, cook & serve large quantities of affordable meals that is served in various institutions & vulnerable sections of society. But this is Mumbai’s biggest automated community kitchen that serves 25,000 people every day. They substitute human labour with highly equipped machines where large quantities of vegetables, rice & lentils are cooked. This kitchen is run by Akshaya Chaitanya NGO in Byculla. Their aim is to make Mumbai fully hunger-free. The meals are served to families of the patients at government hospitals, municipal schools children & families in the slums.
