Mysuru Now Has A Sandalwood Museum Educating People On Its Farming & Benefits

The distinct fragrance of sandalwood in soaps and oils attracts people from across the world to Mysuru in Karnataka. And now you can not only witness sandalwood products, but even learn about its history and cultivation thanks to India’s first Sandalwood Museum in Mysuru Currently situated at the Sandalwood Depot in Aranya Bhavan, Karnataka Chief Minister, Yediyurappa  shall mostly inaugurate this after November 25. This first of a kind Sandalwood Museum offers a lot of beauty and fragrance to tourists. Infact, it might also get shifted to Mysuru Palace, where visitors can explore the museum when they visit the prestigious palace premises. Read on to know more about this Sandalwood Museum.

India’s First Sandalwood Museum Comes Up In Mysuru

Mysuru Forest division has set up India’s first Sandalwood Museum on its premises. S.T. Somashekhar,  Karnataka Co-operation Minister stated that the forest department shall shift this museum to the Mysuru Palace premises. Tourists can learn about the Sandalwood classification, its farming, varieties of sandalwood and more from this museum. Infact this establishment will also display posters with information about sandalwood growth and its prevention of diseases. Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) K.C. Prashanth Kumar stated to Ommcom News, “Besides these, a 3D model of sandalwood sculpture would also be displayed at this Museum. ”

This Museum Shall Educate Farmers & Visitors About Sandalwood Cultivation

The DCF also revealed that they have completed 80% of the museum work already. And Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa  will mostly inaugurate the museum post November 25. Apart from the museum, there’s also a separate room, auditorium, projector and seating arrangement for tourists to learn about sandalwood cultivation. DCF explained to Ommcom News, “The visitors can also have first-hand information about it through interviews of successful sandalwood growers which would be screened. Audio information pertaining to sandalwood would also be provided to the visitors.”
