According to an article which was recently published by The Times Of India or TOI, this hike in price was announced on Sunday, June 3 by an official from the NHAI. This change in price is made owing to the inflation based on the wholesale price index or WPI.

The five per cent increase in the toll rates means that if a particular motorist was paying ₹100 as toll fees, they will now have to pay ₹105. So, if you’re planning a long road trip with your friends or family, get ready to shell out more than you did on your last road trip.

There are a total of 855 toll plazas across the National Highway network. The charges levied at each of these plazas are as per the National Highways Fee Rules, 2008. Of these 855 toll plazas, around 675 are public-funded fee plazas. The other 180 are operated by concessionaires.
