Nepal Earthquake: Fresh Tremors Felt Till Delhi After 2nd Quake In The Region; India Sends Help

Days after more than 150 people were killed and an equal number of people injured in a severe earthquake in Nepal, another one has rocked the region. Not much is known about the most recent earthquake or how it added to the havoc the first one wreaked in the country. However, its tremors were felt all the way till Delhi. Here are all the details that we know about this new earthquake in Nepal.

Nepal Earthquake: All The Updates That We Know So Far

This particular earthquake measured 5.6 magnitudes on the Richter scale, as per a post made on X (formerly known as Twitter) by the National Seismological Centre or NSC. The new earthquake hit the country on November 6 around 4 PM. It was measured to be 10 kilometres deep. The intensity was so strong that its tremors were felt all the way till Delhi.

Many notable figures have expressed their condolences at the tragedy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared a post in which he stated that India is ready to provide comprehensive assistance to the country in its time of crisis. Yesterday, a second consignment of relief materials was sent to Nepal in order to help the country.

The first consignment of goods was sent on Sunday, November 5. Australia, too, has sent support and aid in this time of need for Nepal. It is hoped that the country will recover from the disaster soon. The External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar also shared a post and stated that India was ready to support Nepal in its time of need.

Details About The Previous Earthquake

The earthquake that first struck Nepal on Friday, November 3rd, unleashed disaster in the country. More than 157 people were killed in the earthquake and more than 160 people were injured. According to an article recently published by The Indian Express, the epicentre of the earthquake was in the Jajarkot district’s Ramidanda region.

It is located about 550 kilometres from Kathmandu in Rukum West. Initially, as per an article recently published by NDTV, the earthquake was measured at 6.4 magnitudes on the Richter scale by the NSC. However, it was downgraded to 5.7 magnitudes by the German Research Centre for Geosciences.

Finally, the US Geological Survey measured the magnitude of the earthquake as 5.6. This earthquake is now widely considered the deadliest since the one that hit the country back in 2015. That quake claimed the lives of more than 9,000 people and ended up injuring more than 25,000. The earthquake caused damages to the Himalayan country of around $9 billion.
