In a heartbreaking piece of news, Nitin Desai, the National award-winning art director died by suicide in ND Studios in Karjat. This shocking news comes just a few days before his 58th birthday. The art director known for spell-binding sets of Bollywood films like Lagaan, Jodha Akbar and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo hanged himself in his studio.
Nitin Desai Committed Suicide At ND Studios
According to a report by India Today, his body was found at 4:30 am on August 2nd when a police van entered his studio, ND Studio in Karjat. Mahesh Baldi, a local MP of BJP stated to the news agency that Nitin Desai committed suicide due to financial crisis. He stated to India Today that ND Studios comes in his constituency. And the art director was facing a financial crisis for the past few days. So he died by suicide in his studio on August 2nd morning.

Apparently, last month, Nitin Desai performed a puja in his studio. He was busy preparing the decor for Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai’s revered Lalbaugcha Raja for its 90th-year celebrations. During his glorious 20-year career, the art director has created stunning sets for blockbuster films like Devdas, Slumdog Millionaire, Traffic Signal, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and many more.

The ND Studio or Nitin Desai Studios, owned by the deceased art director is located in Karjat. Apart from housing the most beautiful sets of evergreen films, it’s also home to the set of Bigg Boss, hosted by Salman Khan. Spread across 52 acres, there are both indoor and outdoor shooting locations. It’s an extremely sad and big loss for the Bollywood film industry to lose a veteran art director who has brought laurels to the industry for decades.

Bollywood Mourns His Death
Bollywood actors, filmmakers and other industry veterans took to social media to share their condolences. They mourned the loss of Nitin Chandrakant Desai, who lost his life in the most tragic of circumstances.
